:::sigh::: [17 Jun 2009|12:01pm]
So I was doing the Crossfit WOD (Workout of the Day) today, and I didn't recognize the exercise (hanging power snatch), so I looked up the video. There is this little girl (I guess kinda generic sorority looking girl) demonstrating the workout. She's doing 135, so I figure that's what I'll do. I even joked to Wendy that I was a little ashamed to be doing the same as this chick. Until I started the exercise, and realized I couldn't do the exercise as demonstrated with that weight. :::Sigh::: So I just did the power snatches instead of the hanging power snatches, and am chalking it up to never having done the exercise before, but still. :-(

In case anyone wondered, this is the workout: http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/cfj-nov-05/hang-power-snatch.wmv

Bumper pool [26 Feb 2009|12:36pm]
X posted from facebook

Just a heads up, we got a new bumper pool/poker table combo. This means we're getting rid of our old one.

For those of you that have played on it, you know the story, for those that haven't, it's not a terribly great table.

It's a little wobbly, though some wood glue would probably fix that. The felt is in "playable" condition, but not much more. The poker table side is decent, and all in all, it's served it's purpose well, we just decided to finally put the bumper pool table in the bar, which means we needed one with a darker wood.

If anyone is interested, it's free, and we'd probably even be willing to throw it in the back of the pickup and deliver it, assuming you're one of the people we like hanging out with. Of course, if you're reading this, that probably means you are in that group.

Let me know if there are any takers.

Otherwise, it's just going to the dump.

The next great landmark [23 Feb 2009|05:06pm]
So, when we started our business, we set our sales "quota" as the number of clients it would take to equal our paycheck at our old job (after taxes, overhead, etc.). We've been making quota so far, up until this month. We also set a ceiling on the number of clients per month, to prevent the overload that wendy experienced at her old job. That upper ceiling is roughly twice the "quota". (5 clients, whereas at one point with our old company, she had 60 )

Assuming the client that signed up today passes their initial interview (which is very probable), we've reached our limit.

Now, keep in mind for half of the month, we were actually working at my mother-in-law's house, while babysitting our three nephews.

In other words, boo yah!

Now that's fighting fire with fire. [21 Nov 2008|06:18am]
Upset at the fact that the mormons are once again posthumously converting holocaust victims, this guy decided to take matters into his own hands.

He's now posthumously converting all mormons into homosexuals.

I like how he thinks.

private entry ahoy [20 Nov 2008|07:11am]
I can't think of anyone who would be on my friends list but not wendy's so I'm just directing you over there in case you haven't seen.
This is not the private entry, but that one is.  Let me know if you can't see it, and I'll post something here.

Belts: They ain't just for holding up your pants [29 Aug 2008|09:44am]
So while I am battered and bruised, I am still proud that I was awarded my blue belt in muay thai last night. I'm mostly proud of being a punching bag for the endurance round. Basically, it consisted of me sparring with the instructor, only I was only allowed to knee and kick, and I had a limited amount of time to land 25 kicks and 15 knees, and I wasn't allowed to counter. He, of course, was allowed to do whatever he wanted, and did. So after beating his fist with my face repeatedly, as well as attempting to injure his shins with my ribs, I landed the requisite number of blows with 30 seconds to spare. I still had to finish the time though, so he decided to make it interesting, and redoubled his attacks. I'd love to regale you with a blow by blow account of what happened, but I honestly don't remember most of it. I remember getting hit alot (but always just taking the blow and still pushing forward), and I remember finally charging the guy to clinch for the last 10 seconds, then I remember basically passing out on the mat when the bell went off. I think I set myself up though. He said I could wear protective gear "if I wanted to". I responded with "I don't mind taking shots". He chuckled, and I think decided to take me up on the challenge. I took 'em though. My wife watched on in horror though, she may be able to explain more of what happened. I'm just proud I took a licking and kept on ticking... even if I did get gassed WAY too quickly.

So it's finally installed [01 Aug 2008|03:09pm]
Here's a pic of the bar, now that we've installed the back. Obviously we're gonna neaten everything up (and are probably going to be throwing out the old bar on the left... FINALLY), but since most of y'all haven't seen it yet:

We're also going to be (finally, again) painting the walls. We're probably going to go with a burgundy type color. hooray!

Derren Brown is my new hero. For those who don't know him, I suggest youtube as a jumping off point. He has a book or two, but he explains so much, so well.
That is all.

This is why I love Psychology. This man knows his principles.

So I was gonna make a quick update, then decided to go back and see what the last "life update" I did was... too long ago.

So this isn't gonna be too short after all.
It will, however be cut for the sake of your friends pageCollapse )
